Thank you for the success of I AM NIKON DAY! May 4, 2012
Singapore, 28 - 29 April 2012 – “I AM NIKON DAY” was the very first Nikon-initiated event celebrating photography through a series of talks and workshops. It received almost 1,000 visitors and participants who enjoyed the sharing of photography tips, knowledge and fresh inspiration. Held at the Raffles City Convention Centre from 28 to 29 April 2012, Nikon’s professional photographers and guest photographers led the talks and workshops according to their different expertise, from studio lighting to sports photography and wildlife. The response was overwhelming, with seats almost fully booked within just two days of announcement. After the event, Nikon supporters took their turns to thank Nikon for organising this event. On Nikon Singapore’s Facebook page, a participant, Cheryl Murphy Chong, mentions, “My thanks to EVERYONE for I AM NIKON DAY! It was more fun than I had expected and I learnt a lot! Hope we've all had an enjoyable, meaningful and inspiring two days!” Another participant Deng Weizhong mentioned, “Thank you especially for more seats to be arranged for the walk-ins so that we could be given a great opportunity to attend the talks and workshops! Thanks to all the photographers for sharing their invaluable experience too!”
She said, “Nikon Singapore has always been working with external partners and has always been sponsoring different events organised by other companies and brands. This is the first time we finally did our very own event.” Jeffrey Low, General Manager of Nikon Singapore, says, “We are constantly seeing such high interest from the consumer market for these value-added talks and workshops from a brand like Nikon. So we want to give people more, and we start it off with 'I AM NIKON DAY.” Besides the talks and workshops “I AM NIKON DAY” was also opened to the public to showcase the latest digital-SLR D800E with a studio setup complete with lighting and a model posing for shots, as well as an array of Nikon’s current product showcase of Nikon’s D-SLRs, D4, D800, D7000, D5100, and D3100, the newest COOLPIX compact digital cameras and the latest Advanced Cameras with Interchangeable Lenses (ACIL), the Nikon 1 V1 and Nikon 1 J1.
For photo fun, visitors were able to have their photo taken at the “I AM” photo booth while holding an “I AM” placard with catchy statements such as “I AM IN HEAVEN” or “I AM OMG”. It was a fun way to get people to interact with Nikon’s “I AM” campaign. Visitors also loved the merchandise of rare Nikon premiums that were being sold at the exhibition that was free and open to public. On sale were items such as Nikon T-shirts, Windbreakers, Lens Tumbler, and rarely seen NIKKOR annual reports that fans and collectors snapped up. Nikon’s own speakers were equally glad to have the opportunity to share their photography tips with others. According to photographer Imran Ahmad, an underwater photographer and Nikon professional photographer, “It felt great because I could share what I did best, having people of all walks of life and professions coming to learn and enjoy the images by us. I hope there's a bigger one next year.”
“I have always wanted an event like this. Do it again! Nikon can reach a bigger crowd the next time, and make it even more exciting.” |
