The Nanyang Technological University LIGHT & LIFE Photography Competition in partnership with National Geographic Live, aims to encourage members of the NTU community to contribute creative photographic works using or creating light as the central theme.
The theme of the competition is LIGHT & LIFE.
This competition, jointly organised by National Geographic Live (NatGeo Live) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), which is a sponsor of the 2015 International Year of Light, a global initiative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.
NTU aims to provide a unique platform to create partnerships with key stakeholders and end-users in the field of optical and photonics technology, culture, development and education.
As the official camera sponsor for this competition, Nikon Singapore will be awarding prizes ranging from DSLRs to digital compact cameras to 24 prize winners of the competition, in addition to a total of up to $12,000 worth of cash prizes given by the Nanyang Technological University.
A workshop, led by Mr Albert Yap, Assistant Technical Manager at Nikon Singapore, will be held in conjunction with the competition, to allow participants to learn new methods to maximize the ‘wow’ factor of their photographs, which includes Nikon’s unique shadow-recovery technique to bring out extended yet natural dynamic ranges in their images.
This workshop worth $200 in value, will be made available free of charge for the first 20 successful applicants from the NTU community including current NTU students, staff, faculty and alumni. This workshop will be held on the 24th of July 2015 at the School of Art, Design and Media in NTU.
